I have a PC with OS Windows2000 Professional.Sometimes a message generated " Internet Explorer.exe has generated errors.and will be closed by windows" You have to restart the program. When we click oK .The screen become Blank. After 2 or 3 minutes,the screen again become normal.This message appears frequently.Antivirus installed is Mcfaee Antivirus. When this message generating Icon of Mcfaee Disappear from the system Tray and after sometime reappear again with ICON ,it is just like the english Alphabet 'M'.
Can you help me to solve this problem ??? Is it a virus threat ???

may be a virus problem, update your antivirus program and run a full system scan.

I think it is a OS file curruption than a virus attack.
try to repair using START ->RUN->"sfc"<-'
